| Pre-dive Briefing
Introduce self to group Explain your position relative to dive site Describe site (use map if possible) Gear up procedure (if applicable) Detail buddy checks: • Snorkeling gear ok • Cylinder full on back ¼ turn • Main regulator/octopus breathes well and check pressure gauge • Maximum depth gauge needle reset to zero • BC inflates/deflates/dumps & adjusted correctly • All straps and buckles fastened • All accessories fastened • Weight belt secure and free • Fins ok Entry and surface directions Descent – line and depth at bottom Swim direction to site Bottom time (most conservative for group based on previous dives) Low air warning levels Safety stops Exit, de-gearing and stowage Review procedures • Ears, lungs and buoyancy • Lost buddy procedure • Out of air drill • Caught in current • Hand signals • Specific hazards |
